Many Catholics feel like they "graduated" from their Catholic education after Confirmation or completing Catholic school or Religious Education, but we are life-long learners in our faith. Our Christian education continues until the day we meet our Heavenly Father and all questions are answered.
At St. John the Apostle, we offer the following programs to help adults deepen their faith:
Adult Bible Studies and Faith Formation Studies
These groups are open to any adult who wishes to further their faith and enjoy the fellowship of other Catholic adults.
- Sunday mornings after 9:00 Mass (currently suspended due to shelter-in-place restrictions)
- Wednesday evenings, starting at 6:30pm (currently via teleconference). For more info, contact Donna at dchesshir@sjtanrh.com
- Thursday mornings, starting at 9:30am (currently via teleconference). For more info, contact Donna at dchesshir@sjtanrh.com
The Defenders
Gentlemen, are you looking for something to fill your Tuesday nights and bring you closer to God and your Catholic faith? St. John the Apostle Parish has something for you. The Defenders is an Apologetics Course that will enrich your understanding of the Catholic Faith so that you may defend it. The group meets Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. (currently via teleconference). For more information, contact Bill at bbfettig@yahoo.com.
Cursillo
The Cursillo method aims at helping to transform, in a Christian way, the environments where people live and work through the involvement of "new men and women" who have become such from their encounter with Christ. This is a goal of the three day "little course" on Christianity; in which a team of priests and lay people, supported by the prayer and sacrifices of the movement's other members, communicated the fundamental truths of the Christian faith in an especially "living way." ~Pope John Paul II, July 29, 2000
If you are interested in participating in this movement please contact the Church Office at (817) 284-4811.
"Fully Engaged" Marriage Preparation Program
This program invites engaged couples to explore specific areas that are central to a loving and life-giving relationship in Sacramental marriage. Couples who have been married for 20 years or more serve as mentors to the engaged couples. Meeting together, in a relaxed environment, these couples share and grow to understand the fundamentals of a strong marriage and a healthy family life. Please call the Church Office for more information.
Divorce Recovery Program
Popular Catholic author and speaker, Rose Sweet has produced a powerful series featuring divorced men and women who share their true and inspiring stories. Many people stay stuck in their pain and have trouble finding their way home after the breakdown of their marriage. "The Catholic's Divorce Survival Guide" by Rose Sweet, moves the divorced Catholic past the pain and into the Love that never fails. This course is offered periodically throughout the year. Please watch the bulletin for details or call the Church Office for additional information.
