The Catholic Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is given to people who are seriously ill. This Sacrament is not only for those persons who are near death. If someone receives this Sacrament and recovers, they are able to receive the Sacrament again in case of a grave illness in the future.
