    • Safe Environment Sessions are Available

      Safe Environment initial training sessions and renewal training sessions are available at St. John The Apostle Parish.  
      If this is your FIRST safe environment training, please sign up for the 3-hour session, Protecting God’s Children.   If you are renewing your safe environment training, please sign up for the 1.5-hour session, Renewal Keeping the Promise Alive for Adults or A Plan to Protect for Adult's.   Please sign up at virtusonline.org or call the office at (817) 284-4811.  Each safe environment training is good for 2 years.   All sessions will be held in the Resource Room of the Administration Building.

    • SAFE ENVIRONMENT VOLUNTEER & EMPLOYEE REQUIREMENTS

      St. John the Apostle, under the direction of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all of our children and vulnerable adults.  Therefore, all employees and volunteers must attend a Safe Environment Awareness Session, have a current background check on file, and have a current and complete volunteer file in the Parish Office.  Forms are available to print at the bottom of this page in English and Spanish.

    • Safe Environment Awareness Session – English

      The Fort Worth Diocese requires ALL youth volunteers ages 14 through 17 to complete a volunteer application, attend a Teen Leader Training session (TLT), and provide two references. If a youth volunteer age 14+ attends Nolan Catholic High School, their TLT training at Nolan will satisfy the requirement at St. John’s. These volunteers will still need to submit an application and give two references.

      The Fort Worth Diocese requires the parents of All pre-teen volunteers up to age 13 and including age 13 to review a safety booklet with their children and to turn in a Parent Release Form to St. John office.   

      Teen Leadership Training 
      (All Volunteers Ages 14-17)
      Advanced registration is required for all Teen Leader Training sessions at St. John. Please register online at the St. John the Apostle Parish website or call the St. John office at 817-284-4811. Sessions will be canceled if no one is registered at least one week prior. 
      Saturday 2/8/2025  10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 
      Saturday 3/8/2025  10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 

      ADULT RENEWAL TRAINING: 
      Thursday 2/13/2025  6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
      Thursday 4/3/2025  6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
      Thursday 6/5/2025  6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

      ADULT INITIAL TRAINING: 
      Saturday 3/22/2025  9:00 a.m. - noon 
      Saturday 5/31/2025  9:00 a.m. - noon

    • virtus initial course - protecting God's children for adults

      The new Virtus Safe Environment Awareness Program, "Protecting God's Children", is a 3-hour in-person awareness session that will be offered at different parishes around the Diocese.  

      To register for a session you must:
      · Visit the Diocesan webpage for Safe Environment Awareness Sessions. Or visit virtusonline.org
      · Set up a new Virtus profile
      · Review the list of available sessions
      · Register for the desired session 

      If you do not have access to a computer, or are needing assistance, please contact the Parish Office BEFORE the date of the scheduled class.


      La Iglesia de St. John the Apostle, bajo la dirección de la Diócesis Católica de Fort Worth, está plenamente comprometido a garantizar la seguridad de todos nuestros niños y adultos vulnerables. Por lo tanto, todos los empleados y voluntarios deben asistir a una Sesión de Conciencia del Ambiente Seguro, tener una verificación de antecedentes corriente en el archivo, y una aplicación para servir como voluntario que está completo y corriente en los archivos de nuestra Oficina Parroquial.

    • Virtus renewal course - keeping the promise alive for adults or a plan to protect for adults

      If you have previously taken the Virtus awareness program, Protecting God’s Children for Adults, and it is time to renew, you are encouraged to register for the Virtus Renewal program, Keeping the Promise Alive (KPA) For Adults or A Plan to Protect for Adults. These are a live 1.5 hours sessios
      Renewal of Safe Environment training can be accomplished by attending either the Keeping the Promise Alive for Adults (1.5 hours) or A Plan to Protect for Adults (1.5 hours) OR by attending the original Protecting God’s Children for Adults (3-hour) awareness session again.

      Reminder: The Protecting God's Children for Adults 3-hour program is the prerequisite for registering for Keeping the Promise Alive for Adults or A Plan to Protect for Adults.
