St. John the Apostle, under the direction of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all of our children and vulnerable adults. Therefore, all employees and volunteers must attend a Safe Environment Awareness Session, have a current background check on file, and have a current and complete volunteer file in the Parish Office. Forms are available to print at the bottom of this page in English and Spanish.
Safe Environment initial training sessions and renewal training sessions are available at St. John The Apostle Parish.
If this is your FIRST safe environment training, please sign up for the 3-hour session, Protecting God’s Children. If you are renewing your safe environment training, please sign up for the 1.5-hour session, Renewal Keeping the Promise Alive for Adults or A Plan to Protect for Adult's. Please sign up at virtusonline.org or call the office at (817) 284-4811. Each safe environment training is good for 2 years. All sessions will be held in the Resource Room of the Administration Building.
Entrenamiento de ambiente seguro, clase inicial y para renovar serán ofrecidas en nuestra parroquia St. John the Apostle. Si este es su PRIMER entrenamiento, por favor registrese para la sesión de 3 horas de “ Protegiendo a los niños de Dios”. Si usted ya ha tomado la sesión de 3 horas y solo necesita renovar, entonces registrese para el entrenamiento de 1.30 horas “Un plan de protección para adultos” o Un plan de protección para adultos. The new Virtus Safe Environment Awareness Program, "Protecting God's Children", is a 3-hour in-person awareness session that will be offered at different parishes around the Diocese.
To register for a session you must:
· Visit the Diocesan webpage for Safe Environment Awareness Sessions
· Set up a new Virtus profile
· Review the list of available sessions
· Register for the desired session
If you do not have access to a computer, or are needing assistance, please contact the Parish Office BEFORE the date of the scheduled class.

If you have previously taken the Virtus awareness program, Protecting God’s Children for Adults, and it is time to renew, you are encouraged to register for the Virtus Renewal program, Keeping the Promise Alive (KPA). Keeping the Promise Alive is a live 1 ½ hour session. Renewal of Safe Environment training can be accomplished by attending the Keeping the Promise Alive 1 ½ hour awareness session OR by attending the original Protecting God’s Children for Adults 3-hour awareness session again.
Reminder: The Protecting God's Children for Adults 3-hour program is the prerequisite for registering for Keeping the Promise Alive 1 ½ hour program.
